Rockdale area man charged with growing pot

A 43-year-old Praesel Addition resident was arrested Tuesday after a month-long investigation by the Milam County Sheriff’s Department and charged with felony possession of marijuana.
Wesley Treadwell was also charged with possession of a controlled substance
Deputy Sheriff Chris White said the recently-formed Special Investigations Unit (SIU) was tipped off that illegal drug activity was taking place in Treadwell’s home on Oaklawn Drive. SIU investigators Chief Retchloff and Deputy James Woodward placed the home under surveillance.
“After Mr. Treadwell was approached on Tuesday by myself and Deputy Woodward, he showed us two back rooms in which 35 marijuana plants were being cultivated and several other seedlings were found,” White said.
Sheriff David Greene, who directed the operation at the Treadwell house said more than two grams of methamphetamines were discovered along with money, guns, several grow-lamps, power supply packs, fertilizers, air conditioners, digital thermometers and other equipment.
