"MOPS is an international organization to help women be the best moms they can be," Batten said. "MOPS is designed to inspire and refresh mothers by making new friends and discovering ways to meet the demands of motherhood. Moms who are pregnant or have children age birth to kindergarten are welcome.
"Our Service Team organizes community service projects such as making donations to food banks, libraries, pregnancy centers and nursing homes," she continued. "We also plan to host car seat safety checks and provide diaper changing stations at community events."
Jennifer Owen, mot her of daughters age 2 and 4, finds MOPS a rewarding and helping organization.
"After I had my first child and quit working, I was scared I wouldn't know what to do with myself during the day," Owen said. "All of my friends were still working and how often could I drive an hour into Austin to go shopping? MOPS has given me opportunity to not only meet other moms in our community, but to also make great friends. We get together every week to let our children play and to get a little 'adult' time."
