Caffey

Caffey Caffey Funeral services for Lester Caffey, 76, of Thrall were held Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home. Burial fol- lowed in Salty Cemetery near Thorndale.

Mr. Caffey died Friday, Aug. 21, in his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Thrall on Sept. 27, 1932, to Pollie and Nealie (Harris) Caffey.

On Nov. 5, 1955, he married Ladella Machalicek at St. Marys Catholic Church in Taylor.

Mr. Caffey was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1952 to 1954.

He worked for Alcoa's Rockdale Operations as a steelworker, retiring in 1994 after 27 years of service.

Mr. Caffey was also a farmer and rancher and enjoyed fishing, hunting, dominoes, cards, watching his grandchildren play sports and being together with family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ladella Caffey; his parents, Pollie and Nealie Caffey; siblings Claude Caffey, Buck Caffey, J.W. Caffey, C.M. Caffey and Edith Beyer.

Survivors are his children, Laura Talley and husband Greg, Jauanna Newman and husband Troy, Mitchell Caffey and Sandra Stefek, all of Thrall, David Caffey and wife Judy of Taylor; grandchildren Brad Burlison, Chris and Nicole Caffey, all of Taylor, Stacy Burlison, Brooke and Tanner Newman, Braegon and Hayden Caffey, all of Thrall; great-grandchildren, Brady and Bree Burlison of Taylor; siblings Audrey Norman of Bryan, Sybil Popham of Rockdale, Bobby Caffey and wife Betty of Thorndale, Billy Caffey of Rockdale.

Pallbearers were Bradley Burlison, Tanner Newman, Hayden Caffey, Brian Caffey, Craig Jordan, Rex Caffey, Curtis Caffey, Kerry Caffey.
