Aggravated assault charge filed after shooting in Thorndale

A 27-year-old Thorndale man was arrested in connection with a Thorndale shooting Saturday evening and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Vincent Llanas was arrested on County Road 443 by Deputy Sheriff Lee Dixon and Precinct 3 Constable Herbie Vaughan.

Thorndale Police Chief Fred Keefer declined to release the name of the victim, a Thorndale man. Keefer cited a "continuing investigation" as the reason for not releasing that name.

Keefer said the victim remains in intensive care at Scott & White Hospital and is expected to recover after sustaining one wound to the chest with a .357 revolver.

Keefer said police were called to a North Main address at 6:30 p.m. Saturday on a report that "six shots had been fired."

He said a suspect was reported to have fled down County Road 443 toward the Detmold area. Dixon and Vaughan went to the area and made the arrest.

Keefer said the gun involved in the shooting has been recovered.

Llanas was released on $25,000 bond.

Sex assault

A 48-year- old Gause man remains in the county jail after he was arrested Monday on two sex offenses.

Eugene Eddie Collins was charged with prohibited sexual contact and sexual assault.

Bond was set at $48,000.
