St. Thomas to hold garage sale Saturday
St. Thomas Episcopal Church will hold a garage sale fund-raiser Saturday in its air-conditioned parish hall, Rev. Anne Matthews, minister, announced. Rest room facilities and ice water will be available, she said.
Meadowbrook to hold garage sale Saturday
Meadowbrook Baptist Church, 1401 Colorado, invites the public to a fall fund-raiser on Saturday, Sept. 5. A huge indoor garage sale will be held in the air-conditioned church fellowship hall, along with a bake sale beginning at 7 a.m. Sausage wraps and drinks will also be available.
Grace Lutheran to hold garage and bake sale
Grace Lutheran Church Ladies Aid will hold a garage/bake sale fund-raiser during market day on Sept. 5. "We will also offer desserts by the slice with cold drinks or coffee," said Mickey Meadors, secretary. The church is located on the corner of Wilcox and Bell.

'Wesley Adventure' ahead at St. John's
"The Amazing John Wesley Adventure," a three-day event featuring Dr. Tom Fuller of Lubbock, will be held Sunday through Tuesday, Sept. 13-14-15 at St. John's United Methodist Church.
Rev. John Warren, pastor, said Dr. Fuller is an appointed general evangelist for the United Methodist Church, holds a master of theology degree from Perkins School of Theology, SMU, and a doctor of ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in California.
"He has preached, taught and sung across America and in Great Britain and India," Warren said. His Wesley portrayal ministry in Rockdale will include:
Sunday, Sept. 13—11 a.m. worship, sermon and song, covered dish meals at noon and 6 p.m., and "John Wesley's Amazing Story No. 1" at 7 p.m.
Monday, Sept. 14—6 p.m. covered dish meal, 7 p.m. "Wesley's Amazing Story No. 2."
Tuesday, Sept. 15—6 p.m. covered dish meal, 7 p.m. "What We Believe."

Visualized Bible study at Rockdale Christian
Rockdale Christian Church offers a "Visualized Bible Study Series" by Jule Miller, consisting of five studies: Patriarchal Age, Mosaic Age, Christian Age, God's Plan for Redeeming Man, and History of the Lord's Church.
"This course offers an overall study of the Bible so that your private study will be enriched," said Harry Stevenson, minister. "Lessons can be held in the privacy of your home in DVD format, or at a scheduled evening at the church to share with others."

San Gabriel Christian CYF meets Wednesdays
San Gabriel Christian Church will once again be conducting Christian Youth Fellowship on Wednesday nights. The program will offer a light supper at 6 p.m. followed by Bible classes and activities and a praise/worship service concluding at 8 p.m.
Registration was to be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 2). Parents need to register children, Billy Bob Cox, evangelist at San Gabriel, said. "We're trying to be more structured. It's important that parents know what their children can expect from us and what our expectations of the children are," he said. After registration this week, San Gabriel will not begin regular CYF until Sept. 9.
In addition to CYF, San Gabriel Christian offers a full program of activities and worship. On Sunday morning a continental breakfast begins at 9:15 a.m., followed by Bible school at 9:45 and morning worship at 11. Bible study is also held at 6 p.m. Sundays. A fellowship dinner is held each fourth Sunday.
'5th-quarter' Friday at St. John's UMC
A "fifth-quarter" fellowship for youth will be held at St. John's United Methodist Church after Friday's home football game, Rev. John Warren, pastor, has announced.
Activities will include a praise band, hot dogs and chili, and a short devotion, he said.

'Celebrate Recovery' meets each Tuesday
"Celebrate Recovery," a Biblical, balanced and non-denominational program to help people overcome "their hurts, habits and hang-ups," meets at 7 p.m. Tuesdays in the fellowship hall at First Baptist Church. There is no cost. For more information, call Kenny Kilcrease at 446-6878.
Monthly men's breakfast Tuesday, First Christian
An ecumenical Christian men's fellowship breakfast is held each second Tuesday from 7 to 8 a.m., the site rotating between several local churches.
All men of the Rockdale area are welcome. Next meeting will be Sept. 8 at First Christian Church.
Aglow Lighthouse to meet September 10
Rockdale Aglow Community Lighthouse will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10 at Rockdale General Store, just west of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home.
Speaker will be Shirley Lange, pastor of Trinity Fellowship in Caldwell. Trinity Fellowship was founded by she and husband Kenneth Lange. She has preached there since being licensed in 1998 and ordained in 1999.
"She is very involved with her church ladies ministry, 'Women at the Well,' which meets at p.m. each first Tuesday," said Mary and Betty Amerson, Lighthouse spokespersons. Women are invited to hear her. For more information call 455-9622.
