Unnasch

Funeral services for Ella Lydia Patschke Unnasch, 94, of the San Gabriel and Detmold communities were held Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, at St. John Lutheran Church in Thorndale with Pastor Mel Swoyer officiating. Interment followed at Detmold Cemetery.

Mrs. Unnasch died Sunday, Aug. 30, at Manor Oaks Nursing Center in Rockdale surrounded by loved ones.

She was born in the Detmold community on April 2, 1915, to Paul W. Patschke and Louise Frosch.

She married Leroy Unnasch on Jan. 29, 1939.

Mrs. Unnasch was baptized on April 25, 1915, by A.W. Kramer and confirmed March 24, 1929, by Rev. F.H. Stelzer at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Thorndale.

She was known for always having a smile on her face and living a life that was the epitome of faith and love of family.

Mrs. Unnasch never let a soul go hungry, whether it was a stray cat or dog, family member or friend.

Survivors include her sons, Curtis and wife Betty of Thorndale, Kenneth and wife Sue of Bessemer City, North Carolina, Randall and wife Rose of Thorndale; her daughters, Geraldine and husband Jim of Thor ndale, Pamela and husband Roy of Thorndale; and a brother, Edward Patschke of Thorndale; also, many other family members and friends.

Pallbearers included grandsons Russel Richter, Terry Richter, Chandler Richter, Jonathan Unnasch, Andrew Unnasch and John Unnasch.

Honorary pallbearers included grandchildren David Unnasch, Matthew Unnasch, Rachel Gerren, Rebecca Briones, Deborah Smith, Crystal Ballard, Lindsay Ballard, Oliv ia Unnasch and Mary Unnasch.

Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Thorndale.
