Vargas

CAMERON—Funeral services for Antonio Vargas Sr., 53, of Cameron were held Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at St. Monica's Catholic Church with Rev. Juan Carlos Lopez officiating. Burial followed in Hernandez Cemetery.

Rosary was recited Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home.

Mr. Vargas died Saturday, Aug. 29, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident near Thorndale.

He was born Sept. 27, 1955, in Cameron to Camilo and Julia (Rangel) Vargas.

He married Rosa Vasquez in 1984.

Mr. Vargas was a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church.

Two brothers, Mario and Louis, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife Rosa Vargas of Cameron; three sons, Ruben Vargas, Antonio Vargas Jr. and Ricky Vargas, all of Cameron; a daughter, Rosalinda Vargas of Cameron; his mother, Julia Vargas of Cameron; seven brothers, Jesse Vargas, Camilo Vargas Jr., Marcus Vargas, Steve Vargas and Arturo Vargas, all of Cameron, Manuel Vargas of Hereford, Randy Vargas of New Braunfels; and two sisters, Rosa Barbosa of Troy, Sylvia Salldana of North Dakota; also, eight grandchildren.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
