WE'RE COOL They certainly were in the Tiger Field press box Friday night after Chad Ehler and a crew from Comfort AC air conditioned the structure during the week. It's not the end of some major improvements to the RHS athletic complex. School board members will meet in special session at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the Central Administration Building to act on a redesign proposal for the RHS baseball field, including new fences and a new press box/restroom complex. Supt. Dr. Howell Wright said an alternate proposal to re-orient the field would have cost over $1 million and is not being considered. The RHS softball field is in the background. Full Story
Cameron soldier killed in Afghanistan
The War on Terror seems closer than ever in Milam County this week after the death of a 34-yearold Cameron native in Afghanistan on Friday. Army 2nd Lt. Darryn Andrews died in Paktia Province from wounds received when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an IED (improvised explosive dev ic e) a nd a rocket-propelled grenade. Full Story

Shopping locally isn't just for garage sales
What a great weekend we had in Rockdale. Our church had one of the many sales and there were people everywhere spending money and having fun. And the weather was perfect so I hope you all got out and about around Rockdale. Activities like the community wide garage sales are big on the community word and it is good to get out and see people you don't see regularly. Full Story
RRC to get propane vehicles
R ailroad Commissioner Michael Williams on Aug. 26 hailed news that grant money is coming to pay for 882 clean-burning propane fueled vehicles to be added to fleets operating at schools, state agencies and local government entities. Full Story
