Tigers slosh to win at Marlin

Milano's homecoming rained out; Thorndale victorious

It was a mudfest in Falls County, but the Rockdale Tigers managed to squeeze out a win in the pouring rain.  The Tigers move to 3-0 on the year with a 7-2 road win over the Marlin Bulldogs on Friday night.

Milano's homecoming game, and the team's home opener, against Iola was canceled.  Officials from both school districts decided after a 45 minute lightning delay that severe weather in the area was too dangerous to proceed with the game.  Senior Chelsey Burgess, daughter of Sam and Mellonie Burgess, was crowned the 2009 Milano Homecoming Queen during ceremonies held in the high school cafetorium prior to the original kickoff time because of wet conditions.

Thorndale is now 2-1 on the season with a big 14-7 at Bremond.
