With District 24-3A play on the horizon, Rockdale lined up some big time competition to help them prepare for the intensified league play.

The Lady Tigers held tough, but could not overcome, falling to Austin LBJ on the road in a battle 26-24, 25-27, 17-25, 25- 17, 15-8 on Tuesday night and to Killeen Ellison (4-15) 26-24, 25-12, 24-21 on Friday

The Lady Tigers stand 4-9 on the season.

"We did well in our defense against Ellison," said Rockdale Coach Jason Williams. "We need to work on our passing to complete the whole package."

Against 4A LBJ (4-16), Kathryn Dodd posted seven assists, four kills, three digs and an ace.

She was followed by Katie Strelsky with seven assists, two kills and two aces, while Brittany Frei had nine kills and four blocks; Crystal Callas with eight assists and three kills; Krista Phillips with six kills and Meagan Frei with four blocks.

Against Class 5A Ellison (4-15), Callas sparked Rockdale with six kills, five assists, four digs and one block.

Callas was complemented by fellow senior Emily Ammon with three digs and one ace, while Strelsky had five assists and a kill, Brittany Frei had two aces, two blocks and one kill and Lyndee Pannell four kills.

After participating in the Madisonville Tournament over the weekend, the Lady Tigers will open district play on the road against Bryan Rudder Tuesday.
