Flu shot clinic Monday at Community Center

Mark your calendar for Monday, Sept. 21 and come get your f lu shot at the Gause Community Center from 2-4 p.m. This is free for those on Medicare and a fee will be charged to all others, including those on Medicaid. This is the yearly flu shot, not the one for H1N1.

Mildred Ely Bowling was honored by her family on her 90th birthday with a luncheon and birthday party Sunday in the Gause Baptist Church Family Life Center. Over 50 members of her family including children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren were in attendance for the covered dish meal and a birthday cake with one candle. After lunch, sitting in a her new rocking chair, her family sang "Happy Birthday" and she opened her gifts. A great time of family gathering was enjoyed by all.

Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Crouch of Many, Louisiana visited here over the weekend with Ouida King, Ida and Larry Morgan and Bobbie Hairston.

Hairston visited in Cameron Thursday with cousins Billy and Cheryl Crouch, Robert and Ray Crouch. They have recently moved to Cameron from Pearland.

I failed last week to thank all judges who helped with our events at Founders Day. We appreciate you taking your Saturday morning to help us.

There was a mistake in the name of the person who won third place in the layer cake division, it should have been Jessie Copperwood. Sorry for the mistake, Jessie.

Lizzie Light is in a Temple hospital after breaking her hip. We wish her a speedy recovery.

Carol New man of Milano, Renee' Vinton and I went to Caldwell Saturday morning and helped judge the Kolache Bake Contest. Later that evening Renee', Jerry, Seth, Calla and Isaac Vinton, Kristian and Kendall Lee and I attended Bradley Bakken's 4th birthday party at the Civic Center in Milano.

Visiting in our home for several days this week was Wayne's sister and brother-in-law, Dinah and Richard Evans, from El Dorado Hills, California. They came and met us for church Sunday and then we joined family members Kristi Lee and Jaxon, Kim Lee, Kristian and Kendall, Lean Lee and from Milano Martha Newman, Carol Newman, Becky Olson and Abigail, Sandra and Edward Dworaczyk, and Jinks Lee and grandson Jace and Jinks' friend from Navasota for lunch.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
