Rockdale ISD sends local business representatives to directorships
The Rockdale ISD is giving "the business" to the Milam County Appraisal District (MCAD) board of directors. Literally. School trustees on Monday nominated Rockdale business people Joan Ratliff and Tim Arledge to the MCAD board which oversees the appraisal district's activities. Full Story
Annual '5-Kay Run-Unr un' Saturday to aid restoration
The old girl's looking better all the time. Saturday is the fourth annual 5-Kay RunUnrun to benefit the Kay Theatre, Rockdale's 62- year old former Theatre, which is being restored as a cultural and performing arts center. Runners who only come to Rockdale once a year will notice how much better the Kay looks this time around. Full Story
School building projects wind down 'in the black'
Trustees adopt same tax rate, approve ball field specifications
The $30.8-million bond construction program which built the new intermediate school and a mostly new high school will end up "in the black." Consultant Dr. Ned Walton told Rockdale ISD trustees Monday at least $20,000 to $30,000 in unspent funds from Rockdale's largest bond program ever would be returned to the district. Full Story
Milam swine flu cases won't be listed separately
During the spring Milam County residents got almost a day-by-day update of the number of H1N1 (swine flu) cases identified in the county. That's not going happen as the dreaded flu makes its fall appearance in the county. Full Story
Cameron clinic a boost for pride, prospects
Ground broken for 12,500-squarefoot facility; July opening eyed
With today's economic climate in Milam County, Cameron residents are understandably excited about the new 12,500-squarefoot Scott & White clinic which directors and dignitaries broke ground for last Thursday. By July, Scott & White aims to have the 15-exam-room clinic open, with an adjoining 2,500-square-foot pharmacy. Full Story
Big trees topic of next nature forum
