Cameron man nabbed on drug charge for third time this year

A 28-year-old Cameron man was arrested on a narcotics charge Monday for the third time this year.

Christo- pher Demon Johnson was charged w it h manufacture/ del iver y of a controlled substance (crack cocaine), 4 to 200 grams and also with evading a r re st or detention and tampering/fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair.

He is being held without bond in the county jail.

Lt. Kris Stringer and Ofcs. Terry Turner and John Mendoza were conducting surveillance in the area of O. J. Thomas Park when they observed an individual making what they believed to be drug transactions.

A foot chase ensued after which Johnson was arrested behind an Eighth Street residence and a bag of crack cocaine, weighing almost 16 grams was found between the house and an air conditioning unit.

In April, Johnson was charged on a cocaine possession warrant and was later also indicted for having a prohibited substance in a correctional facility.

Johnson was also arrested last month and charged with cocaine possession (two counts), marijuana possession and illegal gambling after a raid on a Nolan Street house in Cameron.

There were two other drug arrests during the week.

Gary Dean Buchalla, 48, of Brenham, was charged with manufacture/ delivery of a controlled substance (4 to 200 grams) and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond.

Jennifer Webb, 36, of Pflugerville, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (less than one gram) and was released after posting $7,500 bond.
