Volunteers needed for RISD campus educational councils

Rockdale ISD has openings for one community representative and one business representative to serve on the Elementary Campus Educational Council; two parent representatives, two community representatives and two business representatives serve on the Intermediate Campus Educational Council.

Also, one community representative to serve on the Jr. High Campus Educational Council; one parent representative, one community representative and one business representative to serve on the High School Campus Educational Council, according to an announcement by Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, Penny S. Curry.

Representatives from these groups will be selected to serve on the Campus Educational Councils by the principals and other Council members.

Parent representatives must have students enrolled on the campus for which they apply. Community representatives must reside in Rockdale ISD, be at least 18 years old, and cannot be the parent of a student currently enrolled in the district.

Business representatives must own or operate a business, but the business does not have to be located in Rockdale ISD. Parent, community and business representatives cannot be employees of Rockdale ISD.

Applications can be picked up or requested from the elementary, intermediate, junior high or high school office. The deadline for submitting applications is Wednesday, Sept. 30.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
