Luncheon to help Family Life Center

If you like Mexican food then come to the Gause Baptist Church Family Life Center on Sunday, Oct. 4 for lunch. The church will sponsor the dinner with proceeds going for the debt on the Family Life Center. Patsy Carroll will prepare the meal and if you have ever eaten her food you know how good it is, and if you haven't, come find out.

When the Gause VFD ran their article about winners of their raffle and those how participated in the Gause CIP Founders Day Parade they failed to mention the 2009 Gause VFD Miss Flame Sarah Ferrara. She was first runner up in the Central Texas VFD competition.

Noah and McKinsey Coldiron were honored with a big birthday party on Sunday at the home of their maternal great grandparents, Alfred and Wanda Coats, and great-great grandmother Mildred Bowling. There was a large number of family members on hand to help them celebrate. The menu consisted of one of their favorite dishes, spaghetti and meat sauce and all the trimmings. After lunch each blew out the candle on their cakes- 3 for Noah and 2 for McKinsey. When they finished cake and ice cream there was plenty of gifts for both to open. Noah's birthday was in August and McKinsey's in September. They are the children of Chelsi and Jeremy Coldiron and have a big brother, Phillip.

I understand Lizzie Light is out of the hospital and in rehab for a few days to help recover from a broken hip. We wish her a speedy recovery.

We have had a number here in town with flu-like symptoms, allergies and feeling rotten. Hope that is about over for all.

Sept. 22 was the first day of Autumn. Maybe a good cool spell will help us all feel better.

Kim Lee, Kristian and Kendall spent Sunday afternoon with her brother and wife, Jimmy and Pam Shanks, at Lake Belton.

As I am typing this column it is raining again. Prayers have been answered.

The Gause Junior High girls played volleyball in Dew on Monday night. The "A" team won and the "B" team lost. On Thursday the girls will play volleyball at Brazos Christian in Bryan with games at 4 and 5 p.m. The junior high boys football team will also play at Brazos Christian on Thursday with a game at 6 p.m.
