Pageants for Fair slated five days earlier

Kristen Blair MISS TEXAS 2009 Kristen Blair MISS TEXAS 2009 K r isten Blair, Miss Texas 2009, will be mistress of ceremonies at the annual Miss Rockdale Fair Queen Pageant but don't show up on the Thursday of Fair weekend to see it.

For the first time in Fair hist pageant, along with the children's page a nt, i s being moved completely out of Fair weekend.

Both page ants will be held Saturday, Oc t. 10, in the Rockdale High School auditorium. That's five days earlier than normal.

Fair weekend is Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 15-17.

The children's pageant gets under way at 9 a.m. Oct. 10 with doors opening at 8:30.

There's still time to enter the children's pageant. Deadline is Saturday. An entry blank is on page 2B.

The Miss Rockdale Fair Queen pageant gets under way at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 7 p.m.

Fair season ticket holders will be admitted to both pageants. Admission is $5 to those without season tickets.

Rockdale Fair Association board members, citing the profusion of other events on the Fair's Thursday night, including football games and a dance, decided to move the pageant for 2009.

Miss Texas

Blair is a 22-year-old student at the University of North Texas and is a resident of Southlake.

In addition to winning the Miss Texas pageant, she won the preliminaries talent award for her vocal performance.

She has performed in over 25 community theatre performances, hopes to pursue a career in the performing arts and teach children's music/theatre.
