Davilla residents fight beer sales at restaurant

CA MERON—Milam Count y Judge Frank Summers last week sided with a petition signed by 43 Davilla residents and denied a request for a restaurant store in the community to sell beer.

Francisca Escobar had sought the license for her La Sevilla Corner Store and Restaurant.

About 20 Davilla residents protesting the license attended the hearing.

The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission reviewed the request and said it found "no legal reason" to deny the petition.

Summers said his decision was based on the opposition in the Davilla community.
