Food, fun set Oct. 11 at 32nd Deanville VFD fund-raiser

DEANVILLE—The Deanville Volunteer Fire Department will hold its 32nd annual fund-raiser on Sunday, Oct. 11 at the Deanville fire station, located at the corner of FM 111 and Hwy 60 in Deanville.

R.J. Smith, Deanville VFD president, said pit barbeque (pork, beef, chicken, homemade sausage and red ring sausage) will be ready for purchase at 7 a.m.

Plate lunches of fried chicken with all the trimmings will be served beginning at 11 a.m.

A country store and sweet shop with homemade baked goods, tea and coffee will also be open. Games and a train ride will be available for children, Smith said.

A washer-pitching tournament will start at 10 a.m., with registration beginning at 8 a.m.

An auction will start at 2 p.m. and a drawing for prizes will be held during the auction.

"Everything will go as scheduled, rain or shine," Smith said.

"This annual fund-raiser provides funds for insurance and to purchase new equipment and to keep the Deanville VFD running," he added. "Everyone's support is most needed and appreciated."
