Lady Tigers can't overtake defending district champions

The Lady Tigers dip to 7-14 overall and 1-4 in District 24-3A play.
The defending district champion Lady Hornets improve to 20-11 overall and 5-0 in league action.
Crystal Callas supplied five digs, five kills and four assists, while Brittany Frei had five digs and three kills, Meagan Frei two kills and Krista Phillips two kills.
A f ter some early success, Rockdale fell to second place Cameron 7-25, 25-20, 25-9, 25-11 Friday at Tiger Gym.
Cameron improved to 23-7 overall and 4-1 in district.
Callas led the way with six assists, five kills, one dig and one block.
Brittany Frei added three kills and three blocks, while Meagan Frei added three blocks and a dig, Bailey Pannell came up with six digs and Lindsey Pannell four kills.
"We had a tough time with Cameron," said Rockdale Coach Jason Williams. "They got to us mentally. We came together really well in the second game and we were able to beat them.
Crystal Callas rang up 10 kills and 10 assists in two district matches. "We are working on maintaining a high level of play through the whole match. We will be ready for them next time around."
In other District 24-3A action Tuesday night, Taylor handled Navasota 25-21, 25-15, 25-17 and Cameron ripped Bryan Rudder (19-9, 3-2) 25-16, 25-17, 25-17.
Rockdale travels to Madisonville Friday to continue district play and then has an open date on Tuesday before starting the second half of league play.
Four of the Lady Tigers' last six district contests are at home.
