Nicholson

HOUSTON—Services for James Roy Nicholson Sr., 81, of Houston were held Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, and burial followed.

Mr. Nicholson died at his home in Houston on Friday, Sept. 25.

He had been retired as vice president of Fish Engineering & Construction Co. after 39 years and also worked for M.W. Kellogg Co. for 11 years.

Mr. Nicholson as a member of St. Christopher Episcopal Church where he had served as both junior and senior warden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lizzie and Alva Roy Nicholson of Rockdale; a son, William Charles; a brother, William Henry; and three sisters, Alva Dean Abert and Lola Porter of Houston, Mary Helen Boyd of Rockdale.

Survivors are his wife of 59 years, Catherine Cox, formerly of Stockbridge, Georgia; a son, James Roy Nicholson Jr., and wife Kristi and grandchildren Dustin and wife Brandi, Parker, Whitney, Jenna, Natalie; a greatgranddaughter, Ella; a brother Olvis Nicholson and wife Helen of Houston; and a sister, Norma Bender of Houston; also, numerous nieces and nephews.
