Boil water notice lifted
The City of Rockdale has lifted a boil water notice for residents as of Thursday afternoon. City officials announced Wednesday that its water treatment plant lost power on its main distribution line. Samples were sent to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality on Wednesday and results from those tested samples allowed the city to lift the boil notice Thursday afternoon. Full Story
Man dies in early morning rollover
Victim is county's eighth fatality of the year
Milam County recorded its eighth traffic fatality of the 2009 in a one-vehicle rollover near Rockdale.

Fair kicks off good times

It was a weekend for Rockdale royalty as the annual Miss Rockdale Fair Queen contest was held Saturday and the Homecoming Queen contest was held the night before at the Tiger football game. Luminant pledges to remedy 'buzzing'
Luminant Energy says it hears the buzz from people who live in the vicinity of the new Sandow 5 power plant and have expressed concern over a humming sound emanating from the structure. The fair began a week early this year with the children's pageant and the Miss Rockdale Fair Queen Pageant held this weekend. The committee did a great job and the entrants were beautiful.
