Douglas, Ferrara runners-up at 32nd annual pageant

Kassie Roddam, 18-year-old senior at Rockdale High School, was crowned Miss Rockdale Fair 2009 Saturday before a crowd of more than 600 in the Rockdale High School auditorium.

First runner-up at the annual pageant, held five days earlier than in past years, was Ivory Douglas and second runner-up was Sarah Ferrara.

Mistress of ceremonies was Kristen Blair, Miss Texas 2009, who sang and introduced the nine contestants.

Winners

The new Miss Rockdale Fair Queen is the daughter of Ward and Kathryne Roddam. She was sponsored by Chicken Express. She will also receive a Rockdale Fair Association scholarship and a number of gifts.

This year's first runner-up is the daughter of Linda Henderson and Stanley Douglas and is a 17-year-old senior at Rockdale High School. She was sponsored by Rockdale Federal Credit Union.

Joe and Becky Ferrara are parents of the second runner-up, who is a 17-yearold senior at Milano High School. She was sponsored by Car Wash Connection.

Ferrara was presented the award for selling the most tickets.

Pageant director was Neva Caffey. Mrs. Caffey has been involved with all 32 Miss Rockdale Fair pageants. Assistants were Andrea Raymond and Deedra Pipkin.

Miss Texas

Billy Moreland, Rockdale Fair Association president, welcomed the crowd and introduced Blair who presented the nine contestants in western wear and evening attire.

Elisha Betchan introduced new children's pageant winners and also last year's winners.

Patti Free, 2008 Rockdale Fair queen, introduced Lisa Gest Loewe the first Miss Rockdale Fair Queen in 1978.

Blair introduced judges Beverly Dizzine, Angela David, Ralph Dizzine and David Jordt.

PAGEANT ENTERTAINMENT, SPONSORS AND OFFICIALS

Entertainment was by Denice Doss and Lisa Aguilar.

Also performing were members of the RHS Golden Girls drill team, under the direction of Desiree Marshall.

Other pageant officials were: Dana Pendleton, Wenda Jo Dyer, Sharon Shoemake, Janet Pond, Eleanor Taylor, Deedra Jacob, contestant chaperones; April Caffey, judges' hostess; Dianne Whiteley, auditor.
