'Trunk and treat' event set Saturday

First Baptist Church in Rockdale will hold its fifth annual "Trunk-n- Treat" on its parking lot from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, Rev. Jack Chelf, pastor, has announced.

"It's for all the kids of Rockdale and will feature candy, snacks, fun and prizes—and no traffic hassles," he said.

FBC 'Girls and Guys' event Friday, Saturday

First Baptist Church in Rockdale will host "The Truth About Guys & Girls Conference" on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 30-31. The event is for any girls or boys in the sixth grade through 12th grade. All sessions will be 'girls only' or 'boys only' but will include similar teachings.

Anyone wishing to audit the sessions will be welcome. The program will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday, includes a free dinner, and will last until 11 p.m. It will resume at 9:30 a.m. Saturday with a free breakfast and lunch and end at 5 p.m. Youth must pre-register but the conference is free.

Youth event Friday at Master's Gateway

MILANO—Master's Gateway Church in Milano will host a youth night 7-10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, fea- turing guest speaker Tosh Sturgess from Australia and music by "Dre & Russell."

Frienship Baptist to hold Fall Festival

Friendship Baptist Church will hold its annual Fall Festival from 11 a.m. tp 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. There will be games, food and fun for all, according to Vanessa Stracener, spokesperson.

The church is located seven miles south of Milano on TX 36 towards Caldwell.

Mt. Zion of Thorndale sets gospel sing Nov. 7

THORNDALE—Mount Zion Baptist Church of Thorndale will stage a gospel musical at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7 in the Thorndale High School Cafetorium.

'Fishing Hole' sale to run through Nov. 4

The Country Preacher's Fishing Hole, 1.5 miles south of Rockdale on FM 487, next to Calvary Baptist Church, is holding a two-week yard sale from that will continue through Nov. 4, from 9 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. weekdays.

Rev. Leslie Adams and wife Carrie, proprietors, said the Fishing Hole "is over-flowing and that's good news for browsers who can do their Christmas shopping early." Items include TVs, couches, dishes, knick-knacks, and all kinds of furniture and "prices are cheap," they said.

Food ministry order deadline November 5

Loaves & Fishes food ministry of The Master's Gateway Church is taking orders for November. Menus are available at Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, City Hall or White's Leather Shop in Milano.

Orders must be received by Thursday, Nov. 5 and pickup day is Nov. 21 between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m.. A meal will be served during pickup. There are no income qualifications. For more details, contact Rebecca Telg at 446-9140 or

Lord's Acre event set Nov. 14 at St. John's

St. John's United Methodist Church will hold its annual Lord's Acre fund-raiser at noon Sunday, Nov. 15 in the church fellowship hall, with the public invited.

The event will include barbecue plates with all the trimmings for $7, an auction of hand-crafted items, gift baskets, holiday decorations, gift certificates, baked goods, jellies and jams, paintings, plants, Longhorn and Aggie items and more..

"This is the perfect event to get your Christmas shopping done early," said Gaye Bland, Lord's Acre director. The afternoon will also feature a silent auction, "mealsin a-minute" and a country store, Bland said.

Aglow Lighthouse to meet November 12

Rockdale Aglow Community Lighthouse invites the public to its next meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 at Rockdale General Store. Speaker will be Dr. Monique Vanderpuye who, with her husband Dr. Oliver Vanderpuye, lead Glory Salvation & Praise ministries in Austin.

Dr. Vanderpuye is a dentist. She studied in Manchester, England. After 4 years dental surgery practice, she moved to the U.S. with her husband. She taught at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas. From 1997 to 2002 she and her husband pastored in Rockdale before joining a team of revivalists at Palestine (Texas). They moved to their Austin ministry in 2008.

Cowboy Church sets Fall Fest, Ranch Rodeo

Milam County Cowboy Church will hold a Fall Fest from 5:30-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 at the Rockdale Fair Park pavillion. Free admission and all booths are free. For more information, call Donna Garrison, 446-2054.
