Trunk-or-treat, fall festival at high school Saturday

Milano ISD Project Graduation invites all Milano residents and those from the surrounding area to come and participate in a trunk-and-treat at the MHS parking lot from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. There will also be a fall festival in the high school cafeteria and will feature snacks, a spook house, cotton candy, hayride, bouncy ball, washer toss and much more. Come enjoy the fun, be safe and support various school organizations.

The Milano High School office members are raffling a Christmas Basket during the Fall festival. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

Master's Gateway Church in Milano will host a Youth Night from 7-11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30. Guest speaker will be Tosh Sturgess of Australia and music to be provided by popular Christian Rap artists "Dre & Russell." The church is located off Highway 79 in Milano (the church on the hill), next to the Church of Christ. Friendship Baptist Church will have its annual Fall Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. There will be games, food and fun for all. The church is located seven miles south of Milano on TX 36 towards Caldwell.

The Milano Athletic Booster Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3 in the MHS cafetorium.

The group will hold its annual chili supper starting at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6 in the Milano Junior High cafeteria. Chili with fixings, tea and dessert is $5. Serving will last until kickoff of the Eagles game against Holland at Pruitt Field.

Milano Lions Club is still selling raff le tickets on gift cards valued at $200, $100 and $50. The drawing will be at the Nov. 6 football game against Thrall. The tickets are $2 each or three for $5. The Lions are here to help students in our school get glasses if they are needed, give scholarships to graduating seniors, help with meals during the holidays and much more. Please support our local organizations that are here to help our community.

Milano school will serve its annual turkey and dressing meal on Wednesday, Nov. 11. Cost is $2.50 per plate. Call the high school (512-455-9333) if you would like to order plates to go or eat at the cafeteria. If you plan to eat with your children, call the campus they attend.

The Milano varsity football team will travel to Holland for an 8 p.m. game on Friday. The junior high team will host Holland on Thursday at 5 p.m.

Our varsity volleyball team is district champs once again. They will begin playoffs next week. The Milano cross country teams were due to run at the district meet on Oct. 28.

Thank you to everyone that came out and supported the bake sale for Danice Hurt at Walmart in Rockdale. Danice celebrated one year on Saturday with her new heart.

I received word last week that former Milano resident and business owner Clay Flowers passed away Oct. 18 at the Temple V.A. hospital. Military graveside services were held Oct. 23 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. He was owner of Chuck's Bar-B-Que in Milano for many years.

Remember, if anyone has empty shoe boxes they would like to donate to Operation Christmas Child (also known as Shoe Box Ministry), please call me at 512- 455-6921. We are finding it harder each year to get the shoe boxes for this organization.
