Halloween cemetery prank leads to $750 reward offer

A reward of at least $750 has been offered for information leading to the arrest, and conviction, of persons who vandalized the St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery in Detmold on Halloween night.

Curtis Unnasch, spokesman for the group offering the reward, said 12 headstones were overturned at the 106-year-old cemetery.

He said the overturned grave markers did not break.

Additional money may be added to the reward.

Anyone with information may contact Unnasch at 898-2909.

Historic St. John Lutheran Cemetery contains 175 graves, many with tombstones bearing German surnames and inscriptions.

St. John's Lutheran actually started in Demold and moved into Thorndale in 1963.
