Thorndale marching band earns 9th at state

SAN ANTONIO- The Thorndale Bulldog Band competed in the 2009 UIL State Marching Championships held Monday at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Out of the 16 Class A bands that performed in the preominaries, only the top seven advanced to the finals. The Bulldog band was ranked ninth overall, not qualifying for the finals.

"Our students represented Thorndale except iona lly well and t hey were excited at t he opportunity to compete at this level," Scott Simmons, THS band director said. "To have placed among the best 10 1A bands in our state puts our band, our school and our students among the top two percent of schools and bands in our classification. Considering where our band was just three short years ago- that's nothing to be ashamed of."

The Bulldog Band will present its award winning and state qualifying show for the final time this Friday at the Bulldogs' final home game against Holland.
