Food ministry order deadline Thursday

AN EXPERIENCE- Clyde Annandale performed at Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Rockdale. During his five performances, Annadale portryated a Son of Thunder rowing across the Sea of Galilee, the Centurion who executed Jesus Christ, King David revisiting his historic exploits with Goliath, Nicodemus ranting and railing at his Sanhedrin brothers, and Joseph, the earthly carpenter husband of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Menus are available at Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, City Hall or White's Leather Shop in Milano.

Orders must be received by Thursday, Nov. 5 and pickup day is Nov. 21 between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m.. A meal will be served during pickup. There are no income qualifications. For more details, contact Rebecca Telg at 446-9140 or rtelg@yahoo.com.

Mt. Zion of Thorndale sets gospel sing Nov. 7

THORNDALE—Mount Zion Baptist Church of Thorndale will stage a gospel musical at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7 in the Thorndale High School Cafetorium.

It is a fund-raiser for the church's sanctuary construction project, said Pastor Larry Caldwell. Soloists and singing groups are invited to participate. For more information call 512-698-4771 or 512-365-8623.

CWF to host chili supper on Nov. 12

The Christian Women's Fellowship of First Christian Church, 231 Burleson Street, will host a chili supper fund-raiser on Thursday, Nov. 12 in the church fellowship hall (Scarbrough Street side of church).

Serving will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Cost will be $5 and will include a drink. Dessertswill be available for an extra charge.

Money raised from this event will go toward various projects for First Christian Church in the coming year. For advance tickets call the church office, 446-5090, or Peggy Fischer, 446-3308.

Lord's Acre event set Nov. 15 at St. John's

St. John's United Methodist Church will hold its annual Lord's Acre fund-raiser at noon Sunday, Nov. 15 in the church fellowship hall, with the public invited.

The event will include barbecue plates with all the trimmings for $7, an auction of hand-crafted items, gift baskets, holiday decorations, gift certificates, baked goods, jellies and jams, paintings, plants, Longhorn and Aggie items and more.

"This is the perfect event to get your Christmas shopping done early," said Gaye Bland, Lord's Acre director. The afternoon will also feature a silent auction, "mealsin a-minute" and a country store, Bland said.

Aglow Lighthouse to meet November 12

Rockdale Aglow Community Lighthouse invites the public to its next meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 at Rockdale General Store. Speaker will be Dr. Monique Vanderpuye who, with her husband Dr. Oliver Vanderpuye, lead Glory Salvation & Praise ministries in Austin.

Dr. Vanderpuye is a dentist. She studied in Manchester, England. After 4 years dental surgery practice, she moved to the U.S. with her husband. She taught at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas. From 1997 to 2002 she and her husband pastored in Rockdale before joining a team of revivalists at Palestine (Texas). They moved to their Austin ministry in 2008.

Cowboy ministry sets kids donation drive

Southern Comfort Ministry for Milam County Cowboy Church is sponsoring a donation drive, Christmas for Kids, for children of Rockdale ISD, according to spokesperson Darlene Applegate.

They are accepting items such as coats, hoodies, sweaters, new underwear for elementary-age students, socks for all ages and cash. For more information, call Applegate at 512-446-2835.

No 'Bag Sale' at thrift store in Nov., Dec.

Heavenly Treasures Thrift Store will not have it's monthly "Bag Sale" on the first Friday during the months of November and December, spokesperson Rachel Lopez said. Instead, there will be "Dollar Days" every Wednesday of those months.

The sale event began Nov. 4 and on those Wednesdays, Heavenly Treasures will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. "Dollar Days" means all clothing and other merchandise can be purchased for $1 per item, Lopez said.

The store is located at 233 N. Main Street in Rockdale. Regular store hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

"We gladly accept your donations either one of those days," Lopez said.

Women on Mission hold monthly study

Women on Mission of First Baptist Church met Oct. 21 for a Bible study taught by Dr. Lucile Estell, was about Esther's reign as queen. Sally Brumbelow presented the prayer calendar and offered prayer for Southern Baptist missionaries around the world.

Others attending were Myrtle Love, Faye Simpson, Mary Lois Morgan, Elaine Simpson, Jane Robinson, Barbara Clark and Ramona Barlow. St. Joseph's Ladies plan annual Bazaar

The Ladies Society of St. Joseph's Church met Nov. 2, with 22 members present to finalize the plans for their Christmas Bazaar which will be on Saturday, Dec. 5, spokesperson Madeline Kovar said.

This annual event will be held at the church's Educational Bldg. on San Gabriel St. in Rockdale. It begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at 1:30 p.m. with the drawing of raffle and door prizes.

In addition to the prizes, there will be all sorts of baked goods, an arts and craft room and silent auction for your shopping pleasure, Kovar said. The kitchen will have chicken stew, chili and all sorts of sandwiches, and there is free coffee to enjoy.
