Two hurt in three-vehicle wreck

Two persons were treated at Richards Memorial Hospital after a three-vehicle accident on US 79 Sunday afternoon, according to State Trooper Broderick Sims.

Jose Artega, 46, listed as one of the drivers, and 42-year-old Yolanda Pineda, were taken to the Rockdale hospital by an AMR ambulance crew.

Both are from Round Rock.

Location was 3.1 miles east of Rockdale and the accident was reported at 5:30 p.m., Sims said.

He listed the other drivers as Edna Aucoin, 76, of Hutto, and Darcy Phiolpott, 41 of Milano.

Damages were termed moderate for all three vehicles, according to Sims.

One-vehicle wrecks

Troopers also investigated a pair of one-vehicle accidents during the past week.

Trooper David Yarbrough said a vehicle operated by Charmane Garcia, 23, of Rockdale, ran off FM 487 at 4:28 a.m. Thursday and rolled over.

Garcia was treated at Richards Memorial Hospital, Rockdale. Vehicle damages were termed moderate.

Yarbrough also investigated a vehicle-deer collision at 10:45 p.m. Saturday on FM 486, 15.9 miles southwest of Cameron. Driver was listed as Veronica Cardona, 27, of Cameron. No injuries were reported and damaged were termed moderate.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
