The Matinee Musical Club met for their October meeting in the home of Marie Gest with thirteen members present. President Leah Thomason welcomed our two guests.

Gloria Thrasher gave an orientation on Opera in the Ozarks and its upcoming 60th Anniversary in 2010.

Annette Griesbach brought a report on the fundraiser for our scholarship. The East Texas Hand Bell Ensemble concert will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15. All members will have tickets to sell. Admission is $7.

The program for the evening was "Folk Songs" presented by Jo Randall. After her introduction about folk music and its origin, each person drew from a container the words of a folk song to sing. Gloria Thrasher was accompanist.

The meeting was closed with members singing the NFMC benediction song and refreshments were served by the hostess.
