Thanksgiving Food Drive starts next week in Gause

The week of Nov. 16-20 Gause 4-H Club will sponsor its annual Community Thanksgiving Food Drive. Students of Gause ISD will be a part of this activity as they will bring nonperishable food items to their classroom that week. Those of the community are also encouraged to participate in this activity. You may call me or bring donated times by my home. Money will also be accepted and used to buy meat. The food will be distributed in our community.

Texas AgriLife Extension Service of Milam County will sponsor its annual Holiday Gift Idea Exchange from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16 at Bea's Kitchen in Cameron. The public is invited as 4-Hers demonstrate holiday crafts, decorating ideas and holiday recipes. Refreshments will be served and door prizes awarded.

Members and families from the Gause 4-H Club attended the annual Milam County 4-H Awards Banquet Sunday evening at the KC Hall in Rockdale.

Gause Club members who participated on the program were Miranda Oldham, Skyler Oldham, Kendall Lee, Connelly Cooper, Cameron Cooper and Gause 4-H Prince and Princess contestants Hunter Farr and Sara Meierdierck. Mary Nell Neely was awarded the Gause Club's Top Supporter and Chris and Kelly Cooper the Top Leaders. The Coopers also received Top Leaders from the Milam County Shooting Sports.

Club members receiving 4- H Record book Awards were: clothing- Abbigail Miller, Calla Vinton and Kendall Lee; shooting sports- Seth Vinton, Connelly Cooper and Cameron Cooper. Connelly received his 4-H jacket and patches as being a first time Milam County 4-H state winner, that in shooting sports. Cameron received patches ass a repeat state winner, and Kristian Lee received a 4-H blanket for being a first time state winner in consumer decision making.

Gause ISD was presented an Appreciation Recognition Certificate and faculty member Elizabeth Miller accepted this award. Twenty-one were in attendance from the Gause 4-H Club.

The Club also met for its monthly meeting on Nov. 3. William Dean of the Rockdale 4-H Club met with the group and brought a program on the Buckskin Brigade that he attended over the summer. Following his presentation the club held its business meeting.

If you haven't marked it down yet do so now. The annual Community Thanksgiving dinner is Sunday, Nov. 22 at the Gause Baptist Church Family Life Center. The meal is free to all attending. Turkey and dressing with all the trimmings will be served started at 11 a.m. Come join us.

That evening, all are invited to the Gause Baptist Church for the annual Community Thanksgiving worship service at 6 p.m. It will be a music program this year.

Mike Rains is home after spending time in Hermann Hospital in Houston.

Visiting with Larry Sr. and Ida Morgan on Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Danny Gremmett of Sugar Land and Shelley Levitt of Austin.

Bobbie Hairston and Martha Ruddick visited in Milano on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Bud Hollas and James McNaire.
