Delegates chosen for GOP convention

The Republican Women of Milam County has elected four delegates to represent the group at the 27th Biennial Convention of the Texas Federation of Republican Women, set for Nov. 13-15 in Galveston.

Attending will be: Loretta Allen Roberts, president; Lanelle Fikes, first vice-president; Margia Barkemeyer, second v ice president; and Chris Holcombe, legislative affairs chairperson.

Theme of the Convention is "A Wave of Inspiration." The Federation celebrates 54 years of state-wide Republican activism.

Close to 1,000 members from

across Texas will gather at the Galveston Convention Center to hear speakers, elect new officers, mingle with elected officials and candidates, and enjoy festivities.

Opening the proceedings w ill be a "Catch The Wave" Reception at Galveston's Moody Gardens. Workshops w ill be held and statewide elected officials including Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, Attorney General Greg Abbott, and Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples will address the convention.

TFRW is composed of 165 clubs throughout Texas, with a total membership of over 10,000 women. For more information about the organization, visit the TFRW website at www.tfrw.org.

All interested women in the area are invited to attend the monthly meetings of the Republican Women of Milam County and become a part of this active political organization. Meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. and alternate between meeting in Cameron and Rockdale.
