Black Jack volunteers fight hay bale blaze

The Black Jack Volunteer Fire Department battled a hay bale blaze on consecutive days last week.

Jesse Smith, Black Jack VFD president, said volunteers were dispatched to what was reported as a hay baler on fire at 3:40 p.m. Nov. 3 near the southeast Milam community.

Smith said about one-eighth of an acre of grass was also ablaze.

At 1:55 p.m. Nov. 4, volunteers returned to the scene after the hay bale blaze rekindled, Smith said.
