When it comes to need- ing cor rec t ive lenses, most people fall into one of two categories: nearsighted or farsighted.

Oftentimes, people without glasses are confused as to which one is which.

Nearsightedness, also called myopia, occurs when a person can see objects that are close by clearly, but cannot see distant objects clearly, if at all.

Someone has farsightedness (hyperopia) if they can see far away objects clearly, but nearby objects are blurry.

When vision is blurred at all distances, that's astigmatism, which results when light entering the eyes is unable to be brought into a single focus.
