Hospital Auxiliary's luncheon/auction Dec. 2
Richards Memorial Hospital Auxiliar y will hold a Christmas luncheon and silent auction from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2 at St. John's United Methodist Church fellowship hall.
This will be the Auxiliary's main fund-raiser for the year, according to Sue Ohlswager, president. Tickets for the hot lunch are $10 each and can be purchased at the hospital's front desk or from any Auxiliary member.
Donations of gently used and new items for the silent auction will be welcomed. To make a donation, call 446-2282.
The RMH Auxiliary welcomes new members. If interested, fill out an application that can be found by the time clock at the hospital and return it to Melissa Tackett, the hospital's public relations manager.
Masons to sell BBQ at Thorndale parade
THORNDALE—Members of the Thorndale Masonic Lodge will sell barbecue sandwiches and sausage on a stick at the Thorndale Christmas parade Saturday, Dec. 5. The booth will be located at the south end of Main Street and they will start their sales at 10 a.m., according to Marcia Felton, spokesperson.
Chamber will sponsor New Year's Eve dance
Rockdale Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a New Year's Eve dance from 6 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. Dec. 31 at the KC Hall on East US 79.
Denice Doss, Chamber president, said a catered meal will begin at 6:30 p.m. provided by Touch of Elegance. The 80's band "Roman Holiday" will begin playing music at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $125 per couple ($75 for a single) and are good for the catered meal, eight drink coupons, snacks throughout the evening and hats and noise-makers at midnight.
A special hotel package is available for $200 and includes all of the above plus pickup to and from the hotel and a $50 hotel coupon.

Genealogy Society plans Christmas event
Milam County Genealogical Society's final meeting of the year will be a Christmas fellowship at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11 at the home of Patricia McKee, 2009 Skyles, Rockdale. All members are encouraged to attend and bring an inexpensive, $5 or less, gift-wrapped item.- Linda Whor- ton, publicity
Master Naturalist garden club topic
Crown Garden Club members held their November meeting at the home of Peggy Cooke with Nancy Marburger as co-hostess.
A program was given by Paul Unger on the Master Naturalist program. During a question-andanswer session, he announced that another Master Naturalist program will be starting soon.
He also spoke on large trees in Milam County and on the first annual Milam County Nature Festival to be held at Ledbetter Park in Cameron next year.
Mrs. Cooke demonstrated how to make planting pots out of newspapers and other recyclable materials. Each member was given a plant rooted in the pots.
During the business meeting chaired by Euteva Talley, it was announced that club members will meet at Richards Memorial Hospital Monday, Nov. 30, to decorate the lobby for Christmas. They will have lunch with Hospital Auxiliary members following the decorating.
The December Chr istmas meeting will be hosted by Carolyn Burford and Joyce Skinner and will feature a Chinese Christmas gift exchange. Each member is asked to bring items for the local food pantry.—Peggy Cooke, reporter

Rockdale Girl Scouts are holding regular weekly meetings at the Girl Scout House, 412 Murray Street. Kristi Pyeatt, spokesperson, said the meetings are held on the following schedule:
• Daisy (grades K-1)—Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
• Brownies (grades 2-3)— Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
• Juniors (grades 4-5) and Cadettes (grades 6-8 )—Thursdays from 7 to 8 p.m.
