More flu vaccine expected

The good news is that the Milam County Health Department is expecting a new shipment of H1N1 (swine flu) vaccine virtually any day.

The bad news is that the department will be closed most of the week for Thanksgiving holiday.

Michelle Ferguson, county public health preparedness coordinator, said the department has been advised it will get a new shipment of the vaccine this week.

"And this will be the shot kind which is available to everyone," she said. Previously the department only had the mist virus which was only for persons 2-49.

Ferguson said the health department offices will close at noon Wednesday and won't reopen until Monday.
