RHS honor roll breakfast set Friday

The Rockdale Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and the RHS National Honor Society will host an Honor Roll Breakfast, according to NHS sponsor Deborah Dean.

The breakfast is set for 7:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4 in the high school cafeteria for high school students on the 80 and above honor roll. The meal will include breakfast breads, donuts, sausages, juice and coffee. Parents of students on the honor roll are encouraged to attend, Dean said.

St. Paul Christmas musical is Friday

Thorndale- The public is invited to the 2009 Christmas musical presented by the students of St. Paul Lutheran School in Thorndale at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 in the church's family activity center, according to principal Cindy Melcher. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

"It is our annual gift to the community," Melcher said. "All the students from Pre-K through eighth grade will be on the slate sharing the Christmas message in song, dance and drama. It is always an enjoyable evening."

The play this year centers around an invitation form Jerry Jones (yes, that Jerry Jones) for the countries of the world to meet in Texas to see if they can find some common ground that might help us all get along with each other. We will have celebrities and delegates from around the world on stage, each presenting their own customs for the Christmas season, Melcher said.

Holiday cookies will be served after the performance. For more information, call the school at 512-898-2711.

Book Fair coming to Rockdale Elementary

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Rockdale Elementary School on Dec. 7-11, according to Sherilyn Johnson, librarian. Students will bring home a preview flyer in the coming days.

"Children may purchase books during the school day or you can make it a family outing by joining us between 3:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10 for Family Night," Johnson said.

Parents can also contribute books to their child's classroom by purchasing from the teacher's wish list.
