Nativity display begins at local JCLDS chapel
The annual Rockdale Nativity Display, sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, will be open to the public at the chapel, 310 Calhoun Street, on Thursday, Dec. 3, from 5 until 8 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 4, from 5 until 9 p.m.; and Saturday, Dec. 5, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
"Join us for a walk down Christmas Lane to explore the art and beauty of the Christmas Nativity from around the world," said Chalice Marcano, publicist.
"Last year we had over 80 nativities on display and with the public's help we can make this year even more spectacular," she said.

Annual St. Joseph's Bazaar Saturday
The Ladies of St. Joseph's Catholic Church will hold their annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 5, spokesperson Madeline Kovar said.
This event in the church's educational building on San Gabriel Street in Rockdale will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at 1:30 p.m. with the awarding of prizes.
"There will be a variety of baked goods, needlework and crafts, religious articles, a silent auction and a children's activity room.
The kitchen will offer chicken stew, chili and a variety of sandwiches, plus free coffee.
"Our Ladies Society is a group of women working together for the love of God," Kovar said. "The work is seen in the beauty of the church, in their fellowship and community affairs. The public is invited to this event."
'Dollar Days' at RCS continue on Wednesday
Heavenly Treasures Thrift Store is not having it's monthly "Bag Sale" during November and December, spokesperson Rachel Lopez said. Instead, there are "Dollar Days" every Wednesday of those months.
On those Wednesdays, Heavenly Treasures will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. "Dollar Days" means all clothing and other merchandise can be purchased for $1 per item, Lopez said.
The store is located at 233 N. Main Street in Rockdale. Regular store hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
"We gladly accept your donations on any of those days," Lopez said.
Presbyterian women selling 2nd cookbook
Women of First Presbyterian Church (WOC) have compiled more recipes and are now selling Volume Two of their A Taste of Heaven cookbook.
Anyone interested in purchasing a book for $8 should call Sara Bandy, 446-3332. Proceeds will be placed in the fund-raising account for special needs.

Cowboy ministry sets 'Christmas for Kids'
Southern Comfort Ministry for Milam County Cowboy Church is sponsoring a donation drive, "Christmas for Kids," for children of the Rockdale ISD, according to spokesperson Darlene Applegate.
They are accepting items such as coats, hoodies, sweaters, new underwear for elementary-age students, socks for all ages and cash.

Men's breakfast Tuesday at First Presbyterian
A community men's Christian fellowship breakfast is held from 7 to 8 a.m. each second Tuesday, rotating between local churches. The Dec. 8 breakfast will be at First Christian Church.
Aglow Lighthouse sets meeting here Dec. 10
Rockdale Aglow Community Lighthouse will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10 at Rockdale General Store, located just west of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home.
