GOP office to open for filing

CAMERON—In order to handle candidate filings for the 2010 primary election and in preparation for the 2010 elections, the Republican Party of Milam County will set up temporary headquarters at 106 Travis Avenue in Cameron beginning Thursday, Chairman Bill Whitmire announced.

The office will be manned from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., Thursday Dec. 3, by Whitmire and several others of the Republican Party executive committee for potential candidates to file for office.

The temporary headquarters will be in the rear offices of the building where the White House gift shop is located. There will be a sign outside to mark the location.

After Dec. 19, the party will use the front spaces of this facility for our permanent party headquarters, Whitmire said.

"Currently we have nine potential candidates planning to run for the various offices including the four JP races, both the County Commissioner races and the County Judge race," he said.

"As we get closer to Dec. 19, we will set up hours of operation and have a permanent phone number set up for use in the office," he added.

For any other information, directions or questions about the Milam Republican party, or directions, call Whitmire at 254- 482-0354.
