Demos eye first filing day Thursday

CAMERON—The Milam County Democratic Party Chairman Richard Stone reminds prospective county candidates the party headquarters will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, first day of the filing period.

The headquarters is at 112 East First in Cameron.

The Cameron Chamber of Commerce will recognize the opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:30 followed by a reception.

Local party officials intend to have the office open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 4, the last day to file for a place on the primary election ballot.

"If you want to file for a place on the ballot but can't make it those times, please give me a call," Stone said.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
