Wanoreck

Graveside ser v ices for Ira "Sonny" Wanoreck, 77, of Rockdale were held Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale with Calvin Springer officiating.

Mr. Wanoreck died Saturday, Nov. 28, at his son's home in Cameron.

He was born Sept. 17, 1932, in Rockdale to Willie Wanoreck and Clydell (Touchstone) Wanoreck.

A lifelong Rockdale resident, Mr. Wanoreck worked as engineer with Rockdale Sandow & Southern Railroad for 35 years.

He married Barbara McDonald on Aug. 17, 1957, in San Gabriel.

Mr. Wanoreck was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and Rockdale VFW Post No. 6523.

Mr. Wanoreck was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Wanoreck, on Oct. 24, 2007; a son, Dennis Wanoreck; and his parents.

Survivors are a son, Michael Wanoreck and wife Teresa of Cameron; a daughter, Melissa Marshall and husband John of Magnolia; and three grandchildren, Jason Wanoreck of Cameron, Brandy Oder and husband Josh of Harker Heights, Sean Marshall of Magnolia; also, six great-grandchildren.
