CAMERON—Funeral services for Peggy Ruth (Mayberry) Nelson, 75, of Buckholts were held Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Cameron with Rev. James Pool and Rev. Gary Maroney officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Nelson died Tuesday, Nov. 24, in a Cameron nursing facility.

She was born Aug. 20, 1934, in Waco to Thomas and Emily (Pate) Mayberry.

Mrs. Nelson was a graduate of Baylor University and studied religious education at Southwestern Seminary.

She married Carl R. Nelson on Aug. 14, 1964, and moved to Colorado where she taught school for four years.

She later moved to Buckholts and taught school for over 25 years in the Cameron school district.

Mrs. Nelson was a member of First Baptist church, volunteering in many capacities such as teaching Sunday School, GA's, WMU and singing in the choir.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Mayberry.

Survivors include her husband, Carl Nelson of Buckholts; a son, Joel Nelson of Buckholts; a daughter, Rebecca Thompson of Waco; and a sister, Virginia Neel of Waco; also, two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund or Missions Programs.
