Hundreds brave near-freezing temps on Friday

For more than a day area weather forecasts had predicted a near-certain snowfall for the area, worrying organizers of the evening’s activities.

The “blizzard” was a hard-tosee scattering of tiny flakes for about 10 minutes early Friday afternoon.

Crowds still braved considerable cold—temperatures falling through the 30s to reach a low in the mid 20s by morning—to attend the parade and several other activities.

Santa visits

There was more.

Many businesses held afterhours open houses Friday with several reporting some brisk business.
