Santa Claus to appear at Milano’s annual parade

Better not pout, better not cry. Santa is coming to town on Saturday to the annual Milano Christmas parade. Line up starting at 9:30 a.m. at Charlie Martin City Park. Judging of entries will be at 10 a.m. and the parade will start at 10:30.

The parade route will come from the park, turn towards downtown at the football field, through the downtown area, circle past the Methodist and First Baptist churches and end at the Milano Civic Center/Fire Station. Santa will be in the parade and will meet with children at the Civic Center immediately following the parade.

The City will serve a free Christmas dinner after the parade in the center. First through fourth place trophies and cash prizes for parade winners will be presented at this time as well. The City’s Christmas decorations contest will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19. First through fourth place plaques and cash prizes will be awarded at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21 at the Civic Center. If you want to be in the judging, just be sure to have your decorations turned on.

The Christmas band concert for Milano ISD will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15 in the high school cafetorium. Come out and listen to Milano’s musical school talent.

Milano students will be released early on Friday, Dec. 18 for the Christmas holidays. Classes will resume at regular times on Monday, Jan. 4.

Good luck to all the Milano ISD students at UIL academic contest held this week.

In basketball action, the varsity girls will participate in the Snook tournament this weekend, while the varsity boys will play in the Bryan-St. Joseph tournament.

Junior high basketball teams will face Bartlett on Monday, Dec. 14. The girls will play at home starting at 5 p.m. and the boys will play in Bartlett at 5 p.m.
