Shooting sports awards handed out at meeting

Postal League and state award winners were recognized at the Milam County Shooting Sports Club meeting and gift exchange held Sunday in Rockdale. The Milam County Shooting Sports Club met Sunday, Dec. 6 at the New Salem Building in Rockdale for its first meeting of the year and held its annual Christmas party and gift exchange.

Members signed up for the 2010 Postal League competition in the disciplines of precision air rifle, air pistol and archery.

All 2009 Postal League participants were presented with patches and awards were given to some of Postal League winners. One member also received an award from the 2009 State Shooting Sports games held in San Antonio, in July.

Cameron Cooper was presented an award for the junior compound archery unaided high overall individual from the 2009 state games. Garrett Timmerman earned the 2009 archery Postal League fourth place Senior 1 A Class barebow.

Patrick Dean was awarded a plaque for the 2009 Postal League first place Junior A Class compound. The award for 2009 Postal League precision air rifle second place Junior A Class was earned by Patrick Cobb.

The next meeting is at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10 at t he New Salem Building in Rockdale.
