Tournaments not so exciting anymore?
Sitting here staring at my all-tournament trophy from the 1975 Rockdale Tournament for a little inspiration, I was struck by something that Rockdale Coach Dusty Loewe said about remembering how important the tournament used to be.
Or just tournaments in general. Where have the big tournaments gone?

Girls build up momentum as district looms
Just in the nick of time, the Rockdale Lady Tigers have shown signs of turnaround, putting together a two-game victory streak as their district ledger looms large.
The Lady Tigers trimmed Waco Reimer 39-36 Tuesday night on the road for their second straight win to imptove to 2-8 on the season.

Cagers collect trifecta of double-digit victories
This early in the season, teams are normally groping around in an effort to find an identity for what type of team they might become.
The Tigers current mode of identification is floor it off the tip and never look back.
Winning by an average margin of 30 points, the Tigers captured the 2009 Tiger Classic, the first tournament hosted by a Rockdale team since 1990. Full Story
Milano nabs third place at Dime Box tournament
Eagles get revenge against Burton... twice
Milano got payback twice over the last week and the varsity boys brought home a third place trophy from the Dime Box tournament.
In their opening game of the season, the Eagles suffered a six point loss at Burton after struggling from the free throw line. Milano met up with the Panthers twice over the last seven days, winning both match ups. Full Story

Lady Dogs take care of Lexington after letdown
Bulldogs improve to 4-2 on the season
The No. 18 Thorndale girls took it easy over the last week with just one game Tuesday night hosting Lexington.
The Lady Dogs moved to 6-3 on the season with the 51-33 victory at Bulldog Gym.
Thorndale took a commanding 13-6 lead after the first quarter, but fell apart, allowing Lexington to score 16 second quarter points. That left the Lady Dogs down 22- 21 at the half. Full Story
Lady Eagles find going tough at A-S
Milano’s varsity girls basketball team had a tough week, going winless ina tough Anderson- Shiro tournament.
Four losses over the weekend dropped the Lady Eagles’ overall season record to 5-6.
The team opened up tournament play on against No. 8 Normangee struggled in the first half, down 34-14 at the break. Full Story
