Light judging set Thursday and Friday

As Christmas season continues on I am so excited and happy about all of the activities of this month.

This week is the light judging for the wonderful light displays around town. If you haven’t decorated yet, it’s not too late.

We will be judging Thursday and Friday and the winners will be named on Monday, Dec. 21.

And call your displays in to the Chamber to be sure you are on the list for judging.

New Year’s Eve bash

It is not too early to be thinking about New Year’s Eve and the first annual New Year’s Eve Dance sponsored by the Chamber.

Tickets are on sale at the Chamber for $125 and includes a catered meal of pork loin, and all the trimmings, 8 drink coupons, and lots of fun. It will be a great event with Roman Holiday as the entertainment. This will be something different for a change and rather than getting dressed and going to Austin, why not stay in Rockdale and enjoy a great time with your friends?

See you on Dec. 31 at the KC Hall. No tickets will be sold at the door so get your tickets now.

Turkey promotion

A big thank you to the 33 businesses who participated in the Turkey Giveaway this year.

This promotion has been going on for 15 years when Britt Powell was Chamber Manager and it is something everyone looks forward to. Giving a gift away during the holidays is so appreciated by the town residents and those of you who won the turkeys, why don’t you call the business who sponsored your prize — I know those businesses would appreciate a call.

We have such a giving community, one more way to acknowledge it. And speaking of giving, I want to remind you about Christmas Roundup. You can bring your donations for Roundup to the Chamber and we’ll get them to the right place.

This is definitely the season for giving.

Until next time I leave you with this: You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing that we call “failure” is not the falling down, but the staying down.
