Hodges earns A&M bachelor’s degree

Hodges Hodges COLLEGE STATION–Tracey Samantha Hodges will graduate from Texas A&M Uni- versity on Dec. 18 with a Bachelor of Arts in English Rhetoric with dual minors in Psychology and Business. She will complete her student teaching at A&M Consolidated in College Station and plans to teach full time in the fall.

Hodges is the daughter of Tommy and Carla Hodges of Rockdale. Grandparents are Odelsa Hodges of Rockdale and Theresa Dillard of Belen, NM.

Locals earn UMHB degrees

BELTON–The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor winter commencement was held on Friday, Dec. 11 in the Mayborn Campus Center on campus. The graduating class at UMHB included 207 students receiving degrees (182 baccalaureate degrees and 25 master’s degrees).

Local residents receiving degrees included:

Cameron–Rebekah Lynn Cheatham, psychology; Suellen Sabas Lumbreras, Spanish; Karla Anne Woods, nursing.

Milano–Amanda Leigh Cearley, nursing.

‘Students of the Week’ named at junior high

Rockdale Junior High assistant principal Allen Sanders announced the “Students of the Week” at the school for Dec. 7-11. Those students are: Tyler Harrington (8th grade), Terrance Kirkland (7th grade) and Christian Lara (6th grade).

RHS Art Department needs magazines

Rockdale High School’s Art Department is asking for help from the community, according to art teacher Faye Lee Cox.

She said that they are in need of magazines to use for art projects during the reminder of the school year. Those wanting to donate used magazines are asked to drop them office at the RHS office.

Thorndale band concert Thursday

Thorndale ISD’s Christmas band concert is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17 in the school cafeteria, according to band director Scott Simmons. Performances will include the fifth and sixth grade bands, the jazz band and the high school band.

Bowls of chili and Frito pie will be served from 6-7 p.m. Proceeds to help with the Spring band trip, Simmons said.
