Girls Scouts take top prize in Milano Christmas parade
Milano schools will dismiss early on Friday to start the Christmas holidays. Car riders may leave at noon and buses will run at 12:30 p.m. Classes will resume on Monday, Jan. 4.
If you are looking for somewhere local to do your last minute Christmas shopping, then head to the fellowship hall at Milano First Baptist Church on Saturday. There will be a Christmas Bazaar held there from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19.
There will be baked goods, birdhouses, homemade jellies, jewelry and much more for sale. If you are interested in selling your homemade crafts or want more information, contact Sharon Beaty at 512-455-7869. There will also be food, drinks and Christmas music on hand.
The City’s Christmas decorations contest will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19. First through fourth place plaques and cash prizes will be awarded at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21 at the Civic Center. If you want to be in the judging, just be sure to have your decorations turned on.
Friendship Baptist Church will hold its Christmas musical at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 20 A Christmas luncheon of ham and turkey will follow the program.
The next meeting of the Milano Athletic Booster Club is set for 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11. The meetings have been moved to the junior high cafeteria.
We extend our sympathy to the Raymond Zawadzke family. He passed away on Dec. 13. Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17 at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with burial in the Liberty Cemetery.
In sports action, the junior varsity and varsity boys are set to play at Rosebud-Lott on Friday, while the girls teams will play in Iola. Games at both sites are set to start at 5 p.m.
