Barkemeyer files for Milam County Judge

CANDIDATE STATEMENT

Barkemeyer Barkemeyer (Editor’s note: The following is a statement from Dave Barkemeyer on his candidacy for office.)

Dave Barkemeyer has filed as a Republican for the position of Milam County Judge. Barkem eyer has b e en m ayor of Cameron since May 2008 and was councilmanat large from May 2003 to 2008.

Barkemeyer also serves on the Cameron Industrial Foundation Board of Directors and the Cameron Economic Development Corporation Board.

Ba rkemeyer ha s been t he chairman of the Milam County Republican Party for the past two years and has been active in the community since moving back to Cameron in 1997 after a 32-year career in management with The Dow Chemical Company in Freeport, Texas; Midland, Michigan; and Miami, Florida.

He is a state-certified gen- eral real estate appraiser and has been doing fee appraisal work in Milam and surrounding counties for the past 11-plus years.

He is currently the president of the Cameron Rotary Club and a founding member and first president of the Cameron Independent School District Scholarship Foundation.

He and his wife Margia attend the Church of Christ in Cameron. Margia has operated a small business in Cameron since their return.

The Barkemeyers are both natives of Milam County. Dave grew up on a farm near Ben Arnold and Margia in Cameron, both graduating from Yoe High in 1961 and 1963, respectively.

Dave holds a Bachelor of Science degree (1965) from Texas A&M University and a Master of Business Administration (1969) from the University of Houston.
