RHS Art Department needs magazines

Rockdale High School’s Art Department is asking for help from the community, according to art teacher Faye Lee Cox.

She said that they are in need of magazines to use for art projects during the reminder of the school year. Those wanting to donate used magazines are asked to drop them office at the RHS office.

Community asked to help track coyotes

RHS juniors Taylor Johnson and Dawnica Estes are asking community members to assist in gathering data for their Scientifi c Research and Design class project. The students’ project is entitled “The Human–Coyote Interface Project.”

The students ask community members to report sightings or other evidence of coyote presence in the Rockdale area. Students have posted a “Coyote Report Data Sheet” on the RISD website. Please use the following directions for accessing the Coyote Report Data Sheet to assist the students.

Log on to www.rockdaleisd.net, click on Rockdale High School on the left side of the screen. When the “Welcome to RHS” page appears, find the announcements at the top right side of the page, click on the button under announcements section concerning reporting coyote data.

The “Coyote Data Report Sheet” will appear. Click on the begin survey button. Please fill in the sections with as much information as available and click on the submit survey button to submit the report.

Communit y members may also report coyote data in the following format: Observer, Date, Location (address or location. ex. 1 mile north on FM 908), Number of Coyotes, Activities (ex.: crossing road, digging in trash can, etc.).

Please submit the report to Rockdale High School, P.O. Box 632, Rockdale, Texas 76567 ATTN: Art Free. The students will be collecting data until Feb. 15. The students remind community members that coyotes are wild animals and should not be approached.

The project will be exhibited in the Central Texas Science and Engineering Fair at Texas State Technical College in Waco on Feb. 23-24.
